Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni Settlement Details Emerge After Legal Battle
The official settlement agreement between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni has been made public, concluding the legal dispute between the co-stars.
This development provides clarity on the resolution of a high-profile case that involved allegations of sexual harassment and retaliation, as well as counterclaims of defamation.
The settlement, reached on May 4, came weeks before the case was set to go to trial.
Judge Lewis Liman issued the final ruling on June 12, marking the end of the litigation.
The terms, revealed on Monday, June 15, indicate that Lively, 38, Baldoni, 42, and his company Wayfarer Studios have agreed to resolve "all differences and disputes" and "irrevocably waive any and all appellate rights associated" with their previous legal actions.
A joint statement was also part of the agreement.
One key aspect of the settlement involved Lively's motion for Baldoni to cover her attorneys' fees and damages stemming from his 2025 defamation lawsuit.
Judge Liman ultimately ruled that Baldoni is responsible for Lively's attorneys' fees but denied her request for further damages.
## Background of the Legal Proceedings
The legal battle began in December 2024 when Lively initially sued Baldoni and Wayfarer for sexual harassment and retaliation.
She alleged that Baldoni sexually harassed her on the set of their film "It Ends with Us," a domestic violence drama, and was involved in orchestrating a smear campaign against her.
In response, Baldoni and Wayfarer filed a $400 million countersuit in January 2025 against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and The New York Times.
This countersuit cited claims of civil extortion, defamation, and false light, though Judge Liman dismissed the entire case in November of that year.
The legal proceedings continued in Lively's case, with the judge dismissing 13 of her 16 causes of action on April 2.
The eventual settlement on May 4 led to a joint statement from their attorneys, Bryan Freedman, Ellyn Garofalo, Michael Gottlieb, and Esra Hudson.
Their statement emphasized the positive outcome of their film, "It Ends With Us," as a "source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life." It also acknowledged the challenges of the legal process, stating, "We acknowledge the process presented challenges and recognize concerns raised by Ms.
Lively deserved to be heard." The statement concluded with a hope for closure and a constructive path forward for all involved, including a respectful online environment.
