The reboot of "Scary Movie" from Paramount-Miramax has made a strong early showing at the box office, securing an estimated $7.5 million in previews.

This figure positions the comedy favorably against recent R-rated releases, even surpassing the preview numbers of "Bad Boys: Ride or Die" ($5.875 million) and nearing "Scream 7" ($7.8 million).

Meanwhile, Amazon MGM Studios' "Masters of the Universe" is estimated to have earned approximately $4 million from its initial preview screenings.

Both films began their showtimes at 2 PM on the day of their previews.

"Scary Movie," directed by Michael Tiddes and starring Anna Faris, Regina Hall, Marlon Wayans, and Shawn Wayans, was initially projected to achieve a domestic opening weekend in the range of $40 million to $45 million.

Despite a 29% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes, audience reception appears more positive, with a 68% score.

For "Masters of the Universe," a $170 million production directed by Travis Knight, the preview earnings are slightly below those of other PG-13 family films based on 1980s franchises, such as "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" ($4.5 million) and "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" ($4.7 million).

The film, featuring Nicholas Galitzine, Camila Mendes, Idris Elba, Jared Leto, and Alison Brie, has received a 71% certified fresh rating from critics and an 89% audience score, indicating a more favorable reception than Disney's "Tron: Ares."

This early Box Office performance suggests that while "Scary Movie" is off to a robust start, "Masters of the Universe" is also finding its audience, particularly with its strong critical and audience scores.

The full weekend performance will provide a clearer picture of how these films resonate with moviegoers.
