IWGP Tag Team Champions HENARE & Great-O-Khan Challenge for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door
IWGP Tag Team Champions HENARE and Great-O-Khan have issued an open challenge for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, signaling their readiness to compete at the upcoming pay-per-view.
The champions, who currently do not have a match scheduled for the event, made their intentions clear via social media.
HENARE responded to an NJPW post about the June 28 event at SAP Center in San Jose, California, stating, “O-Khan and I are ready for anyone who wants to step up.” This declaration indicates the duo's desire to defend their titles or compete in a non-title match at the inter-promotional show.
HENARE and Great-O-Khan secured their second reign as IWGP Tag Team Champions on June 14 at NJPW Dominion, defeating the Knockout Brothers, OSKAR and Yuto-Ice, in Osaka-jo Hall.
Their challenge adds another layer of anticipation to the Forbidden Door card, which aims to feature matchups between talent from both All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
Should a team accept their challenge, it would mark the second NJPW title match confirmed for Forbidden Door.
The event is already set to host an IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship defense, with Shota Umino putting his title on the line against PAC.
Umino recently accepted PAC’s challenge, making it his first title defense since winning the championship at Dominion in a three-way match against Drilla Moloney and then-champion Andrade El Idolo.
The champions' proactive approach to securing a match at Forbidden Door highlights the significance of the event for both NJPW and AEW talent.
