Karlovy Vary Film Festival to Honor Dustin Hoffman and Juliette Binoche
The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic has commenced its 60th edition, with plans to honor acclaimed actors Dustin Hoffman and Juliette Binoche.
This recognition highlights their significant impact on global cinema, bringing a spotlight to their distinguished careers at one of Europe's notable film events.
Dustin Hoffman, a two-time Academy Award winner for Best Actor for his roles in “Kramer vs.
Kramer” (1979) and “Rain Man” (1988), will be celebrated on the opening night.
He is scheduled to present “The Graduate,” the 1967 film that earned him his first Oscar nomination, on Saturday.
Juliette Binoche, who received an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in “The English Patient” (1996) and has garnered numerous other accolades, will be presented with the same award as Hoffman during the festival's closing ceremony on July 11.
The festival will also feature screenings of three of her films: “Certified Copy” (2010), “Three Colors: Blue” (1993), and “In-I in Motion” (2025).
American cinematographer Robert Richardson, known for his collaborations with directors such as Oliver Stone, Martin Scorsese, and Quentin Tarantino, is the third individual slated to receive this prestigious award.
Richardson, a three-time Oscar winner for Best Cinematography, will introduce his feature documentary portrait, “Robert Richardson: The White Devil,” on Saturday.
Twelve films will compete for the top prize, the Crystal Globe, which will be decided by the festival's grand jury.
The festival is held in the western Czech spa town of Karlovy Vary.
