King Charles has reportedly extended an offer of official accommodations to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their two children for a rare visit to the UK next month.

As of Friday, the couple had not yet responded to the offer, which could see the family staying in royal lodgings.

This potential trip would be the first time the entire family has been in Britain together since the Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

Meghan Markle has not visited the UK since Queen Elizabeth II's funeral later that same year.

The offer of accommodation from King Charles is a significant development, as it could facilitate a family reunion that has been infrequent since Prince Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties.

While the offer of a place to stay addresses one aspect of a potential visit, the issue of security remains a prominent concern.

Even if the Sussexes accept the palace accommodations, security arrangements would reportedly fall under the purview of the Home Office, not the King.

It is currently unclear if any special changes to these arrangements are anticipated.

Prince Harry has consistently maintained that the downgraded police protection since his 2020 departure from royal duties makes it unsafe for his family to spend extended time in the UK.

A legal attempt to reinstate higher-level security for the family was unsuccessful last year, with Harry stating in 2023, "I can't put my wife in danger like that."

Prince Harry and Meghan, who reside in California with their children, Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, have not publicly commented on the reported July visit.

The Sun reports that King Charles is said to be very happy at the prospect of seeing his grandchildren again.
