Prince Harry is set to visit the UK next week without his wife, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, and their two children, Archie and Lilibet.

The family's decision not to travel to London comes after confirmation that they would not be provided with taxpayer-funded police security.

This development means Meghan will not accompany Prince Harry to the Royal Hospital Chelsea for meetings related to the Invictus Games on Wednesday, an event he will now attend alone.

The absence of Meghan and the children highlights the ongoing dispute regarding security arrangements for the family when in the UK.

This situation is significant as it directly impacts the family's ability to visit the UK together.

Sources close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex indicate that the decision stems from concerns raised by Prince Harry's personal security team, which reportedly spent several days reviewing the arrangements.

They also cited the lack of an up-to-date assessment from the Royal and VIP Executive Committee's (Ravec) Risk Management Board, the body responsible for determining security provision for high-profile individuals in the UK.

While Meghan and the children will not be in London, there is still a possibility they could join Prince Harry later in the week.

The trip is scheduled to move to Birmingham on Thursday, where Prince Harry will visit the city's children's hospital to support the charity WellChild.

If Meghan does travel to the UK later, she is slated to join her husband at Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre for the year-long countdown to the city hosting the Invictus Games.

Discussions are reportedly ongoing regarding the security elements for the latter part of the visit, with no final decision yet made.

There had been reports that the trip might include a visit to Althorp in Northampton, the family estate of Prince Harry's mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, with plans for him to take his wife and children to his mother's private grave.

It is currently unclear whether King Charles will have the opportunity to meet his two grandchildren, whom he has not seen in person for four years, under this revised schedule.

Buckingham Palace has declined to comment on private family matters, and the King has several public engagements planned for the upcoming week.

Prince Harry's long-standing disagreement with the UK government over security arrangements dates back to his decision to step back from his role as a senior royal in 2020 and relocate to the United States.

He has previously stated that he would not bring his family to the UK without improved security provisions.
