Morgan Spector, known for his role in HBO's "The Gilded Age," is reportedly in negotiations to take on the iconic role of Professor Robert Langdon in a new Netflix series.

This adaptation will be based on Dan Brown's latest novel, "The Secret of Secrets." The potential casting marks a significant development for fans of Brown's work, as Spector would succeed Tom Hanks, who previously portrayed Langdon in film adaptations.

Sources indicate that Rebecca Hall, recognized for her work in "The Town," is also in discussions for the female lead role opposite Spector.

If these deals materialize, it would mark the first television series collaboration for the real-life couple, who have previously worked together on stage and in films such as "Machinal," "Christine," and "Permission."

Netflix has not yet commented on the casting reports.

However, sources suggest that Spector's potential involvement with the Netflix series would not necessarily conflict with his role as George Russell in "The Gilded Age," provided scheduling can be managed for a potential fifth season of the HBO show.

About The Series and Production

In "The Secret of Secrets," Spector's character, symbologist Robert Langdon, is tasked with a race against time and ancient forces.

His mission is to rescue his missing girlfriend, scientist Katherine Solomon (reportedly Hall), and secure her groundbreaking manuscript.

This manuscript is said to contain discoveries that could fundamentally alter humanity's understanding of the mind.

Dan Brown and Carlton Cuse are set to co-create, write, and executive produce the series, with Cuse also serving as showrunner.

Emma Forman of Cuse's Genre-Arts will also executive produce.

Filming for the series is slated to commence this fall in Prague, the setting for the novel.

"The Secret of Secrets" was published by Doubleday in September and is the sixth installment in Brown's highly successful Robert Langdon series.

The franchise, which includes global bestsellers like "The Da Vinci Code," has sold over 250 million copies across 56 languages.

Three of Brown's novels were adapted into films starring Tom Hanks as Langdon, collectively grossing over $2.24 billion worldwide.

A previous television adaptation, "The Lost Symbol," aired on Peacock in 2021 with Ashley Zukerman as a younger Langdon, running for one season.
