Steve Burton is making his highly anticipated return to *General Hospital* as Jason Morgan, with his comeback slated for the show's 16,000th episode on Monday, July 13.

A first look at his return reveals Jason will be wounded, indicating a dramatic re-entry into Port Charles.

This development is significant for fans as it marks the resolution of a major storyline that saw Jason off-screen for several months.

Burton's last appearance on *General Hospital* was on March 25, when his character was arrested by the WSB after claiming responsibility for shooting WSB director Ross Cullum.

The actual shooter was Rocco Falconeri, whom Jason was protecting.

Burton had previously announced a temporary break from the soap on February 10 to spend time with his family, promising to return in the summer.

Jason's release from WSB custody was orchestrated by Josslyn Jacks.

After Josslyn shot Cullum in the July 2 episode, WSB chief Z visited her and requested she conceal the truth about the shooting.

Josslyn agreed, on the condition that both Jason and Valentin Cassadine be released, which Z accepted.

Burton resumed filming on June 1.

On his podcast, *That's Awesome*, co-hosted with Bradford Anderson, Burton teased that viewers can expect significant changes for Jason.

He noted, "We’re shifting directions a little bit, which is going to be interesting for fans." He added that the new storyline has given him "something to play" and will be "shaking things up."

*General Hospital* head writers Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten further elaborated on Jason's return in a *Soap Opera Digest* interview.

They stated that Jason will come back a "changed man" due to his imprisonment, which will profoundly affect his outlook and future decisions.

These changes are expected to have major implications for characters such as Danny Morgan, Britt Westbourne, the Quartermaines, Anna Devane, and especially Sonny Corinthos.

Upon his return, Jason will face several personal challenges, including reconnecting with his son Danny, who has struggled in his absence, and Rocco, who has been stealing.

His relationship with Britt Westbourne, which was just beginning before his departure, may also become complicated, especially since Britt recently learned she is not dying from Huntington's disease.
