Kirk Schwabe, a former criminal justice teacher and security guard for Taylor Swift, passed away at the age of 69 after a battle with metastatic kidney cancer.

His death occurred on the same day that Swift married Travis Kelce in New York City, a development that adds a poignant note to the singer's personal life.

Schwabe, who taught Swift at Hendersonville High School in Nashville from 2004 to 2006, later worked as her security guard during the early stages of her career.

His daughter, Sarah Gordon, announced on Thursday that her father's health had "declined rapidly," leading to his transfer to hospice care.

Gordon shared on Facebook that her father had dedicated his heart to all his endeavors, particularly his love for teaching and his students.

A photo she posted showed Swift alongside Schwabe, holding a framed record plaque commemorating her 2006 debut album, "Taylor Swift."

Before becoming an educator, Schwabe served as a police officer in Chicago.

He maintained a close relationship with Swift, even after leaving his security role due to burnout.

His influence on the pop star was acknowledged when a teacher character in Swift's 2010 film "Valentine's Day" was named "Mr.

Schwabe."

In an interview published on July 2, Schwabe expressed his trust in Swift's judgment regarding her choice of partner, Travis Kelce.

He recalled telling Swift early in her career that she was a superstar and that the sky was the limit for her.

Despite his concerns about her safety during her rise to fame, his wife, Jane, noted that he treated Swift like his own daughters.

Although Schwabe did not live to witness the wedding, his family confirmed that he remained proud of Swift's success and was happy for both her and Kelce.

The wedding ceremony, held at Madison Square Garden, featured performances by Paul McCartney and Stevie Nicks, with signs outside the venue announcing "JUST&T MARRIED."
