The first images from the upcoming Anna Nicole Smith biopic, 'Trust Me, I'm a Doctor', reveal Australian actress Abbie Cornish in the lead role, portraying the late reality TV personality.

The initial look shows Cornish embodying Smith during her appearance at the 2005 West Hollywood Pride Parade, alongside her physician, Dr.

Sandeep Kapoor.

This development is significant as it offers the first glimpse into how the film will visually interpret Smith's life and persona, particularly through Cornish's transformation.

The biopic centers on Smith’s inner circle dynamics, with a particular focus on her relationship with Dr.

Sandeep Kapoor, played by 'Harold & Kumar' star Kal Penn.

Kapoor was charged with eight felonies following Smith’s accidental overdose death in 2007, though he was later acquitted of all charges in 2010.

Exclusive images, published by Variety, feature Cornish in a platinum blonde wig and a silver dress, meticulously recreating Smith's look from the 2005 parade.

Kal Penn, who briefly met Smith during her lifetime, expressed his astonishment at Cornish's portrayal.

He told Variety, “She really embodied Anna Nicole in a very striking way.

She was a completely different person.

It definitely brought me back to that time.

Abbie is excellent.

She’s phenomenal in this role.”

Cornish herself described the role as “just incredible” during an appearance at the Taormina Film Festival in Sicily, Italy, last month.

When the role was first announced, she stated she was “beyond excited” to work on the film.

Directed and written by Thane Economou, the biopic is based on Kapoor’s book, 'Trust Me, I’m A Doctor.: My Life Before, During and After Anna Nicole Smith'.

The cast also includes Linda Hamilton, known for her role in 'Terminator', as Kapoor’s lawyer Ellyn Garofalo, and 'Weeds' actor David Julian Hirsh as Smith’s boyfriend, lawyer Howard K.

Cornish, who gained recognition for her roles in 2004’s 'Somersault' and 2007’s 'Candy', reflected on her career start at the Taormina Film Festival.

She shared that her entry into acting came after winning a Dolly magazine modeling contest, which led to an audition and her subsequent passion for acting.

While acknowledging the pressures related to appearance early in her career, Cornish stated she has since learned to “embrace every single part of me and to get out of the minutia of maybe some mainstream culture that puts pressure, particularly on women.”
