David Corenswet, set to portray Superman in James Gunn’s DC Universe, reportedly intervened during the New York City premiere of *Supergirl* after a photographer touched his co-star, Milly Alcock.

The incident, which occurred on Monday, June 22, quickly gained traction online as video footage circulated.

According to reports, Corenswet moved towards the photographer after the individual placed a hand on Alcock's back while attempting to get her attention.

The viral clip shows Alcock, Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Nicholas Hoult together when the photographer reached out.

Corenswet then separated from the group and appeared to address the photographer directly.

Entertainment Weekly noted that Corenswet moved closer to Alcock and gestured towards the crowd before the group resumed their conversation.

This moment led many viewers to draw comparisons between Corenswet's real-life actions and his upcoming role as Superman.

Alcock, who stars as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, has previously spoken about the intense public scrutiny faced by women in major fandoms, including the perception that the public has ownership over their bodies and appearance.

This context adds a layer of significance to Corenswet's reported intervention.

## The New DC Universe Cast Gathers

The premiere brought together key figures from the new DC film universe.

Corenswet will play Superman, Brosnahan is cast as Lois Lane, and Hoult will portray Lex Luthor.

Alcock leads the *Supergirl* film as Kara Zor-El.

Director Craig Gillespie reportedly described the on-screen relationship between Kal-El (Superman) and Kara as an “almost older-sibling dynamic,” influenced by Superman's Earth upbringing compared to Supergirl's harsher past.

Alcock's first appearance as Kara is slated for 2025's *Superman*, with *Supergirl* then placing her at the center of the story, featuring Corenswet in a supporting role.

The *Supergirl* film is based on the *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow* comic arc by Tom King and Bilquis Evely.

It follows Kara on an intergalactic mission with Ruthye Marye Knoll, played by Eve Ridley, as they seek justice for Ruthye’s family and attempt to save Krypto.

The cast also includes Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills and Jason Momoa as Lobo.

Craig Gillespie directed the film from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira.

Alcock described taking on the role as her first major film experience, calling it “the biggest thing ever in the world.” The movie is set to begin its global theatrical rollout on June 24, with U.S.

theaters opening on June 26.
