Jeff Shell and R.J. Cipriani Settle Litigation Over Confidential Information Claims
Jeff Shell, the former president of Paramount Skydance, and gambler R.J.
Cipriani have settled their ongoing legal dispute.
The resolution sees both parties dropping their lawsuits with prejudice, indicating a final conclusion to the claims.
Cipriani had previously sued Shell, his wife, Paramount, and others in March, alleging he was owed $150 million for crisis public relations work performed under an unwritten agreement.
Shell, in turn, filed a countersuit, asserting that Cipriani was attempting to exploit a brief relationship to extort an undeserved payment.
Sources indicate that Paramount and Jeff Shell did not make any payment to Cipriani as part of the settlement.
Both Shell and Paramount declined to comment on the resolution, and Cipriani's attorney, Steven Aaronoff, did not respond to inquiries.
This development is significant as it concludes a high-profile legal battle that led to Shell's departure from Paramount Skydance.
## Background of the Dispute
Cipriani's initial claims included allegations that Shell had leaked confidential company information, potentially violating securities laws.
When these accusations surfaced in February, Shell disclosed them to Paramount, prompting an internal investigation.
That probe, concluded in April, found no evidence that Shell had violated any securities regulations, according to the company.
Shell stepped down from his role as president in April, stating he needed to "focus" on the litigation.
At the time, Paramount described the allegations against the company as "frivolous and baseless."
Cipriani's complaint also detailed alleged confidential remarks from Shell, including his belief that Paramount was overpaying for Warner Bros.
Discovery during a bidding war with Netflix.
Shell also reportedly criticized WBD CEO David Zaslav, calling him a "suck-up" to Hollywood celebrities.
## Mediation Attempts and Further Claims
The two individuals were introduced through their mutual lawyer, Patty Glaser.
According to Cipriani's complaint, Glaser attempted to mediate the dispute in February, reportedly offering Cipriani a $150,000 "loan" that would not require repayment.
Cipriani subsequently accused Glaser of a conflict of interest due to her representation of both parties.
Both sides later secured separate legal counsel for the litigation.
Glaser declined to comment on the resolution.
Additionally, Cipriani claimed credit for orchestrating a June 2025 Hollywood Reporter article concerning Shell's dispute with "South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
He argued in his suit that this article exposed the creators' alleged greed, saving Paramount an estimated $1.5 billion, yet Shell refused to compensate him for this purported benefit.
