Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel has sparked a wave of criticism from Trump supporters and others following a segment on his show targeting Spencer Pratt's unsuccessful bid in the Los Angeles mayoral election.

During his Tuesday night monologue, Kimmel addressed Pratt's previous statement that he would leave Los Angeles if either Karen Bass or Nithya Raman were elected mayor.

Bass and Raman are now set to compete in the November runoff election, a contest from which Pratt was eliminated.

Kimmel playfully bid farewell to Pratt, stating, "Spencer, if you’re watching, we are so, so sorry to see you go.

We do know that we’re gonna miss the hell out of you.

You’re a man of your word, and you’ve gotta go, you said you were gonna go." The comedian then revealed he had rented a U-Haul truck for Pratt, which his staff had decorated with streamers, balloons, and a sign reading "JUST DEFEATED" alongside a photo of Pratt.

Kimmel also mentioned Pratt's wife, Heidi Montag, wishing them well wherever they might go.

Backlash from Public Figures

The segment quickly drew strong reactions from various public figures.

Florida Senator Rick Scott took to X, questioning Kimmel's humor, while Newsmax's Rob Schmitt labeled Kimmel "pompous trash." Former *The View* co-host Meghan McCain also criticized Kimmel, calling him a "mean, heartless b------d" and suggesting that his departure from television would be a "better day for the country."

Spencer Pratt himself responded to the U-Haul gag on X, posting a video of his destroyed home and writing, "Jimmy Kimmel i guess you missed the part of the story i don’t need a U-Haul…I have nothing left to pack." This comment referred to Pratt losing his home in the Palisades Fire of January 2025.

Pratt failed to advance in the mayoral election, being edged out by Los Angeles City Council member Nithya Raman.

Raman and incumbent mayor Karen Bass will now face off on November 3.

Beyond his direct response to Kimmel, Pratt has not publicly commented on his defeat, aside from a cryptic image of a lone duck on a lake that left his followers speculating.

On a subsequent episode, Jimmy Kimmel again referenced Pratt, this time in the context of Republican Steve Hilton advancing in a different run-off election.

Kimmel joked about the idea of the mayoral election being rigged, despite Pratt's loss, implying a humorous take on common election rigging claims.
