Actor John Schneider has publicly commented on his protracted legal dispute with ex-wife Elvira Castle, which centers on spousal support payments.

The "Dukes of Hazzard" star discussed the ongoing case during a recent appearance in Washington, D.C., where he questioned the expectation of continued financial support years after a divorce.

This development is significant as it sheds light on the personal and financial challenges faced by public figures during lengthy post-divorce legal proceedings.

Castle's legal team is reportedly seeking more than $2.3 million in alleged unpaid spousal support and accumulated interest.

Court documents suggest this amount includes years of unpaid obligations, with interest continuing to increase the total.

Additionally, the filings request access to portions of Schneider's Screen Actors Guild pension and Social Security benefits should the alleged outstanding amount not be paid directly.

Schneider, however, disputes these figures.

Court records indicate that his legal team argues the calculations are inaccurate and that supporting evidence for the claimed amount has not been properly provided.

## Schneider's Perspective on the Dispute

Speaking candidly, John Schneider expressed his frustration with the situation, stating, "I don't understand why someone would feel that… someone that they threw away, right?… If you throw somebody away, why would you expect them to continue to be part of your life in any regard, let alone financially?

I don't understand where the integrity is in that."

He also reflected on the duration of the legal battle, noting, "It's a shame when people who were together then turn into this.

And it's been a long time.

I mean, this divorce… She filed for divorce in 2014.

My God, that's been 12 years." Despite the lengthy process, Schneider expressed hope for a resolution, stating, "cooler heads will prevail, and we'll get through it."

## Background of the Divorce

John Schneider and Elvira Castle married in 1993 and separated more than two decades later.

Castle filed for divorce in 2014, and the proceedings were finalized in 2019.

The legal battle intensified years after their August 2019 settlement, which initially granted Castle $25,000 in monthly spousal support.

The former couple raised four children together, including their biological daughter Karis, and Castle's children from a previous marriage: Chasen, Mandy, and Leah.

Away from the legal dispute, Schneider has been focused on his career and personal life, including his marriage to Dee Dee Sorvino.

He also recently performed at an event commemorating America's upcoming 250th anniversary, an experience he described as deeply meaningful.
