John Stamos Explains Why He Will Never Join 'Dancing With the Stars'
Actor John Stamos has firmly stated his refusal to ever compete on "Dancing With the Stars," a stance he reiterated during a recent appearance on "The Bobbycast" podcast.
Stamos, known for his roles in "Full House" and "Fuller House," revealed that he receives an invitation to join the celebrity dance competition "every single season" but consistently turns it down.
Stamos, 62, explained his reasoning to host Bobby Bones, saying, "What makes that show good is people suffering and looking like fools." He added, "They’re breaking their feet, calluses.
I don’t want that." This perspective highlights his disinterest in the physical and potentially embarrassing aspects of the competition.
Bones, who won Season 27 of "Dancing With the Stars" in 2018, attempted to persuade Stamos, suggesting he would "learn so much." However, Stamos playfully recalled Bones' victory, noting that "Fuller House" alum Juan Pablo Di Pace, who came in fifth that year, was widely considered to have performed better.
Stamos jokingly called the show "rigged" in light of that outcome.
This isn't the first time Stamos has publicly addressed his disinclination to participate.
In 2010, he posted on X (formerly Twitter) that he was "not doing 'Dancing with the Stars'" despite being "flattered to be asked." He further clarified, "I’m not a dancer." While he has consistently declined to compete, Stamos did perform on the show in 2010 alongside The Beach Boys, singing a medley of their hits while professional dancers performed.
Stamos's consistent refusal to join the cast, despite regular offers, indicates a clear boundary he has set regarding his public image and professional endeavors.
His comments offer insight into the personal considerations that influence celebrity participation in reality competition shows.
