Henry Schuster, a veteran producer for the long-running CBS news program *60 Minutes*, has announced his departure after nearly two decades.

Schuster revealed his exit in a LinkedIn post, noting that while he had been considering leaving for some time, his departure was "overshadowed" by recent staff changes at the broadcast.

This development highlights ongoing internal shifts at *60 Minutes* and CBS News.

Schuster's announcement comes amidst a period of significant turnover at the program.

He indicated that his decision to leave was made in February, suggesting he may have been among the CBS News staffers who accepted a buyout offer earlier this year.

Reports at the time indicated that 11 staffers, including six producers from *CBS Evening News*, opted for buyouts.

His departure follows a series of high-profile dismissals.

Last month, CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss reportedly fired *60 Minutes* producers Draggan Mihailovich and Tanya Simon, along with correspondents Cecilia Vega and Sharyn Alfonsi.

Longtime correspondent Scott Pelley was also dismissed after he reportedly spoke out against Weiss and the firings during a staff meeting.

In his LinkedIn post, Schuster reflected on his time at *60 Minutes*, calling it "a great run" and describing his work there as "extraordinary." He also briefly touched on his future plans, stating he would explore options such as pursuing a high school diploma, writing another book, or other projects, while humorously adding he would try to avoid starting a podcast or Substack "at least not now."

Before joining *60 Minutes* in January 2007, Schuster spent 25 years at CNN.

He is also the co-author of the true crime book *Hunting Eric Rudolph*.
