Netflix Reportedly Developing Live-Action Persona Series with Christopher Monfette as Showrunner
Netflix is reportedly developing a live-action series based on the popular Persona video game franchise from Atlus.
This development marks a significant expansion of the Persona universe into live-action, bringing the beloved role-playing game series to a new format for audiences.
The news was first reported by entertainment industry outlet Variety.
Christopher Monfette, whose credits include the last two seasons of *Star Trek: Picard*, *12 Monkeys*, *9-1-1*, and *Vision Quest*, is attached to the project as executive producer, showrunner, and writer.
The report did not specify which particular game entry the adaptation would be based on, despite noting that each main game in the franchise features its own distinct story setting.
Further executive production will be handled by Shawn Levy of 21 Laps Entertainment, known for his work on *Stranger Things*, *Free Guy*, and *Deadpool & Wolverine*.
He will be joined by Robert Atwood, Dmitri M.
Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, and Timothy I.
Stevenson.
Toru Nakahara from Sega will also serve as an executive producer.
Originating as a spinoff of the *Shin Megami Tensei* video game franchise, *Persona* first debuted in 1996 on the Sony PlayStation console.
The series has since seen numerous installments and remakes, including *Persona 3 Reload*, which launched in February 2024, and the upcoming *Persona 4 Revival*, slated for release in February 2027.
The most recent main entry, *Persona 5*, shipped in 2016, with its expanded version, *Persona 5 Royal*, following in 2019.
Atlus also confirmed in June that *Persona 6* is currently in development.
