Netflix Reportedly Developing Live-Action Persona TV Series
Netflix is reportedly developing a live-action TV series based on Sega and Atlus's acclaimed RPG franchise, Persona.
This development marks a significant move for the streaming giant into adapting popular video game properties, potentially bringing the beloved series to a wider audience.
Christopher Monfette, whose credits include *Star Trek: Picard* and *9-1-1*, is attached to the project as its writer, executive producer, and showrunner.
He will be joined by a team of executive producers, including Shawn Levy and Robert Atwood from 21 Laps, a company known for its collaboration with Netflix on hits like *Stranger Things*.
Also on board are Dmitri M.
Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, and Timothy I.
Stevenson from Story Kitchen, a production company with a history of video game adaptations, including the *Sonic the Hedgehog* movies.
Sega producer Toru Nakahara will also serve as an executive producer.
Netflix has not yet commented on the reported development.
Details regarding the plot remain unconfirmed, with no indication if the series will adapt a specific game entry or present an entirely new narrative.
The Persona franchise, which began in 1996, offers a rich catalog of material, including five mainline games, numerous spin-offs, and remakes.
The most recent numbered entry, *Persona 5*, introduced the popular Phantom Thieves in 2016, with an expanded version, *Persona 5 Royal*, released in 2024.
Given the early stage of development, casting details and a potential release date for the live-action Persona TV show have not been announced.
Story Kitchen has been actively pursuing various video game adaptations, with future projects reportedly including series based on *Sifu*, *It Takes Two*, *Just Cause*, and *Life is Strange*.
