Netflix's Animated Ghostbusters Series Titled 'Ghostbusters: Night Shift'
Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation have officially unveiled the title and logo for their forthcoming animated series, which will be known as “Ghostbusters: Night Shift.” This announcement was made on Ghostbusters Day, a celebration commemorating the anniversary of the original 1984 film's release.
The reveal provides a concrete detail for fans eagerly anticipating new content in the franchise.
Showrunners Ben Hibon and Elliott Kalan, alongside Ghost Corps executive producers Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan, shared the news.
The animated series is slated to debut on Netflix in 2027, adding to the growing legacy of the Ghostbusters universe.
The franchise has a history of animated adaptations, including “The Real Ghostbusters,” which aired from 1986 to 1991, and its sequel series, “Extreme Ghostbusters,” in 1997.
The new series will join these predecessors in expanding the Ghostbusters narrative through animation.
During the Ghostbusters Day celebrations, Reitman and Kenan also acknowledged the success of the ‘Ghostbusters Give Back’ initiative, which surpassed its $500,000 donation goal.
They presented ‘Golden Trap’ awards to the Ghostbusters chapters in Buffalo, Los Angeles, and Virginia for their fundraising efforts.
Additionally, Reitman, Kenan, and Jay Levine of Sony Pictures presented a $150,000 matching donation from Sony to the Starlight Children’s Foundation, bringing the total raised to $666,000.
Further charitable activities included Celeste O’Connor, star of “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” and “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” visiting Maimonides Children’s Hospital in Brooklyn with Starlight to deliver hospital gowns and toys to pediatric patients.
The Buffalo Ghostbusters also hosted a presentation and live auction to benefit the FDNY Foundation, with the ‘Ghostbusters in Concert National Fall Tour’ contributing a portion of its ticket sales to the cause.
