New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani has clarified details regarding the permit costs for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding at Madison Square Garden.

Mamdani confirmed that the superstar paid over $160,000 to obtain the necessary permit from the city to manage street closures around the Midtown venue.

The statement came during a consumer protection press conference on Friday, July 10, in response to a reporter's inquiry about whether Swift would reimburse the city for police overtime.

Mamdani stated, "Taylor Swift will be paying… has paid already the cost of the permit that was lodged, which was over $160,000 for that event and for the response to that event." He added that the permit was finalized just days before the event itself.

This clarification follows criticism from some New Yorkers and public figures, including Republican Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis, regarding the timing of the wedding.

The event, which occurred on a major U.S.

holiday, led to several street closures in Midtown.

Malliotakis had publicly suggested that Swift and Kelce should reimburse the NYPD for the officers required for their multi-million dollar wedding, stating that NYC taxpayers should not bear the cost.

Beyond the permit payment, the couple also reportedly made a significant donation of $26 million to 20 different charities across the U.S.

in the days leading up to their nuptials.

While official figures for the total wedding cost have not been released, luxury wedding and event planner Lindsay Landman estimated to Rolling Stone that the final price tag could range from $20 to $25 million.
