Taylor Swift Releases New Song "I Knew It, I Knew You" for Toy Story 5
Taylor Swift has officially released a new song, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” which is featured in the upcoming film *Toy Story 5*.
The track draws inspiration from the beloved Pixar character Jessie, who is also depicted in the song's artwork.
This release sees Swift returning to her country music origins.
Swift collaborated with her longtime friend and producer Jack Antonoff on “I Knew It, I Knew You,” co-producing and co-writing the track.
Their previous collaboration was on Swift’s 2024 album, *The Tortured Poets Department*.
The song features a catchy chorus, with Swift singing, “I saw you, standing there in the light of the window/Wearing that same smile/Man, it’s been a while.”
In an Instagram post, Swift shared her feelings about creating the song, stating, “Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time.
Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once.” She also posted a video of herself as a child wearing a cowgirl hat and boots, highlighting her long-standing fandom for *Toy Story* since the age of five.
Swift expressed her commitment to the franchise, saying it’s “an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond.”
Three versions of “I Knew It, I Knew You” were recorded, with acoustic and piano editions available exclusively on CD through Swift’s website.
Swift also extended her gratitude to her collaborators, including Andrew Stanton for envisioning her involvement and Randy Newman for his contributions to the *Toy Story* musical world.
She noted that she and Antonoff wrote the song with deep admiration for the characters that influenced their childhoods.
Rumors of Swift’s involvement with *Toy Story 5* began in late April when her website temporarily displayed a countdown and adopted the franchise’s iconic cloud wallpaper.
These rumors were further fueled by *Toy Story*-themed billboards featuring a large “TS” that appeared on May 29, followed by Pixar and Disney sharing videos of the placard with Jessie dancing, referencing Swift’s “Shake It Off.”
*Toy Story 5* is scheduled to be released on June 19, a date that also marks the 20th anniversary of Swift’s debut single, “Tim McGraw.” Swift’s 12th studio album, *The Life of a Showgirl*, was released in 2025 via Republic Records.
