Actor Faizon Love, known for his role in the film "Elf," recently declared in a Florida courtroom that he is experiencing severe financial hardship.

Love stated he is broke, lacks a permanent home, drives an old car, and depends on a friend to cover his expenses.

This revelation comes as the 58-year-old actor faces two contempt of court charges stemming from an ongoing child support dispute.

Love's attorney argued that despite his extensive filmography, which includes nearly six dozen films, the actor has fallen on hard times.

Evidence presented in court highlighted his homelessness, an empty savings account, and reliance on a 1999 car as indicators of his financial struggles.

Love reportedly claimed he earned no income in 2025 and that his highest gross income over the past five years was only $13,000, according to court documents.

The child support case involves his ex, Tiffany Lee, who alleges Love owes her $250,000.

During the hearing, Love was asked if he could afford to pay $2,500 a month in child support, to which he responded, "Right now?

No." Lee, who appeared via video, countered by claiming Love had previously told her she "wasn't going to get a dime" and that he would deliberately avoid paying by stopping work and canceling shows.

Love's attorney contended that keeping him incarcerated would prevent him from working and further damage his reputation in Hollywood.

The judge subsequently ordered Love, who appeared in court in a wheelchair and cuffed, to be released from custody.

He has until July 1 to submit a financial statement to prove his inability to afford the child support payments.

This development is significant as it highlights the personal and financial challenges faced by public figures, even those with recognizable roles in major productions like "Elf." Love's career spans numerous films, including "Friday," "The Meteor Man," "The Replacements," and "Couple's Retreat." His most recent film credit was in 2023.

Love has also had previous encounters with law enforcement, including arrests for assault in 2017 and an accusation of felony assault last year.
