Cathy Chase, the mother of actress Daveigh Chase, has spoken out about her profound grief following her daughter's death at 35.

In an emotional interview published Friday, Chase described her reaction to the news as feeling like "something inside of me squeezing all of the air out of me, and at the same time, It felt like I was exploding outwardly." This development offers a personal perspective on the tragic passing of an actress known for her roles in films like "The Ring" and as the voice of Lilo in "Lilo & Stitch."

Chase recounted her disbelief upon hearing of her daughter's passing on Tuesday, stating she let out a "guttural scream" and ran into her backyard, crying out, "No, no, no, no!

I am in so much pain but I hope her soul heard me." She revealed that she had been searching online forums nightly for clues about her daughter's whereabouts, a routine she maintained since they last saw each other in 2019.

## Daveigh Chase's Final Years and Health Battles

Cathy Chase also disclosed that she frequently checked the LA County Medical Examiner's system for her daughter's name, including the list of unidentified bodies, as a desperate measure to find her.

When news broke that Daveigh Chase, who had reportedly been living near Los Angeles' Skid Row, had died after battling meningitis and a blood infection leading to sepsis, her mother initially dismissed it as "fake news" until multiple legitimate sites confirmed the information.

On Thursday, Cathy Chase identified her daughter's body at a Los Angeles hospital, describing the experience as "beautiful" and feeling "blessed" to have shared that moment, even if it was through glass with a chaplain.

## The Onset of Struggles

According to Cathy Chase, her daughter's struggles began in 2016 after a motorcycle accident led to painkiller use.

She claimed that Daveigh Chase subsequently became involved with "the wrong people" and was "seeking drugs." Despite rumors, Cathy Chase insisted she "never kicked [her] daughter out," stating that Daveigh "wanted freedom and these people got her hooked on some drugs.

That was the beginning."

Cathy Chase last saw her daughter during a jail visit in 2019, where Daveigh was facing alleged burglary charges.

She described her daughter as "completely gone, like out of her mind," and believed the drugs had taken hold, despite Daveigh never being diagnosed with mental health issues other than PTSD.

Cathy Chase expressed her frustration that her daughter did not wait for her release from jail, instead returning to the streets.

She also addressed criticism about her parenting, asserting, "As a mother, you don’t give up on your child.

I was hoping she would still come home."

## Fundraiser and Residuals

Prior to Daveigh Chase's death, a man claiming to be her boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, set up a fundraiser.

However, her former manager, John Ryan, cast doubt on its legitimacy, stating that a trust account was already set up at SAG to cover costs and that Daveigh Chase had left behind millions in residuals.

Ryan claimed he had attempted to contact the actress, but she was "too far gone" on illicit drugs to claim the funds.
