The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan, have accepted an offer to stay at a royal residence during their upcoming visit to the UK next month.

This trip will be significant as it marks the first time the family, including their children Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, will visit Britain together in four years.

The acceptance of a royal estate for their stay suggests a potential shift in their approach to UK visits, especially given past security concerns.

While the specific royal residence has not been disclosed, the family will be guests of King Charles.

Their itinerary includes several days in the UK, with plans to also utilize private accommodation during their stay.

Prince Harry's primary reason for the visit is to commence the year-long countdown to the Invictus Games, scheduled to be held in Birmingham next July.

He is also expected to engage with various UK-based charities he continues to support.

Previously, Prince Harry had declined offers to stay at Buckingham Palace due to security concerns, particularly after losing a legal battle for police protection during UK visits last year.

Following that ruling, he expressed worries about the safety of bringing his wife and children to the UK, stating, "I can't see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point and the things they're going to miss is, well, everything."

The exact security arrangements for the upcoming trip remain undisclosed, though it is understood that Buckingham Palace has not offered additional security provisions.

Any further security will be a matter for the Home Office.

The King last saw his grandchildren in person during Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.

While neither Buckingham Palace nor representatives for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have commented on a potential meeting between the King and his son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren, they have described it as a private family matter.
