Lizzy Caplan has been cast in the upcoming "Far Cry" anthology series, an adaptation of Ubisoft's popular video game franchise for FX and Hulu.

This marks a significant step for the series, bringing a recognizable talent to the project.

Caplan will star alongside Rob Mac, who was previously announced.

The series is being developed by Noah Hawley, the creator behind acclaimed shows like "Fargo" and "Alien: Earth." True to the video game's format, the television adaptation will be an anthology, with each season introducing a new setting and a fresh cast of characters.

The "Far Cry" video game franchise, launched in 2004, has garnered over 100 million unique players and is recognized as one of Ubisoft's most successful properties.

The games are known for their first-person shooter gameplay set in open-world environments, often featuring memorable antagonists and ordinary protagonists thrust into extreme survival situations, fighting to liberate oppressed populations.

Noah Hawley expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is it’s an anthology.

Each game is a variation of a theme, the same way each season of ‘Fargo’ is a variation on a theme." He added that creating a big action show that can evolve yearly while exploring humanity through a complex and chaotic lens is a dream come true.

Hawley is excited to partner with Rob Mac to bring their shared sensibility to the screen.

Caplan's recent work includes Netflix’s thriller series “Zero Day” and FX’s “Fleishman Is In Trouble.” She is also widely known for her role as Janis Ian in the film “Mean Girls.”

The FX series will be executive produced by Rob Mac, Noah Hawley, and Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, alongside Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, and Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

FX Productions will produce the series.
