Prince Harry is reportedly planning to bring his own security team to the UK next month for a visit with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

This decision comes amidst an ongoing dispute with the British Home Office regarding 24/7 armed police escorts for the family.

Sources indicate that the visit is anticipated to be a "huge spectacle," marking the family's first return to the UK together in four years.

While Harry currently pays approximately $3 million annually for private security in the US, he has not yet been granted VIP security status in the UK.

Despite this, he has been offered a royal residence that includes private security for their stay.

The primary purpose of the trip is to commemorate the one-year countdown until the Invictus Games, scheduled to take place in Birmingham next summer.

Additionally, Prince Harry reportedly hopes to use this opportunity to reunite with his father, King Charles, who has had limited contact with Archie and Lilibet.

## Security Concerns and Royal Protocols

The issue of Prince Harry's security in the UK falls under the purview of RAVEC, the Royal and VIP Executive Committee.

This committee is responsible for determining the level of protection provided to senior royals and other high-profile individuals.

A significant challenge for Harry's private security team is that they are not permitted to carry weapons in the UK, a privilege reserved for elite officers.

Furthermore, private security personnel do not have access to the MI6 or police intelligence infrastructure that royal and diplomatic protection officers utilize.

This lack of official protection has raised concerns, particularly after an incident in January where a known stalker was reportedly in close proximity to Prince Harry during a court appearance in London.

His private security team observed the individual but was unable to intervene due to their limited authority.

King Charles's Principal Private Secretary, Sir Clive Alderton, is among the eight individuals on the panel that oversees Harry's security arrangements.

Prince Harry has previously stated that his father has the ability to influence decisions made by RAVEC, suggesting that a resolution could come through his intervention.

While Meghan Markle has no plans for work meetings during the UK visit, the focus remains on the family's security and the potential for a reunion with King Charles.

The Home Office has maintained its long-standing policy of not disclosing detailed information about protective security arrangements, citing concerns that doing so could compromise their integrity.
