Original Book of Mormon Stars Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells Reunite for Tony Awards and Limited Run
The original cast of the hit musical *The Book of Mormon*, including Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells, reunited at the 79th annual Tony Awards ceremony.
The reunion, which also featured Rory O’Malley, celebrated the show's 15th anniversary and saw the stars reprise their roles to perform “Man Up,” the closing number to Act One.
This special appearance at the Tony Awards is significant for fans, as it marks a rare occasion for the original cast to perform together again.
The performance was introduced by the show’s creators, Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and Robert Lopez.
Beyond the Tony Awards stage, the reunion will extend to a limited engagement of eight performances.
Gad, Rannells, O’Malley, Parker, Lopez, and Nikki M.
James are all slated to return for these shows, scheduled from June 9 to June 14.
Gad and Rannells originally starred as Elder Price and Elder Cunningham, respectively, two missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sent to a remote Ugandan village.
Their contrasting worldviews formed the core of the satirical musical.
The duo also recently co-starred in *Gutenberg!
The Musical!* on Broadway from 2023 to 2024.
*The Book of Mormon* was a major success, winning nine Tony Awards in 2011, including Best Musical.
The current Broadway production features Kevin Clay as Elder Price and Diego Enrico as Elder Cunningham, with Sydney Quildon as Nabulungi, Charlie Franklin as Elder McKinley, and Jacques C.
Smith as Mafala Hatimbi.
In May, the production faced a temporary closure after the Eugene O’Neill Theatre experienced a fire on May 4, leading to a few weeks of hiatus before performances resumed on May 27.
