Seth Rogen has publicly stated that he has no intentions of collaborating with James Franco in the future, confirming to The New York Times that they have not communicated in a "long time." This announcement clarifies the status of their professional relationship, which has been under scrutiny since allegations of sexual misconduct against Franco emerged.

The decision by Rogen to distance himself professionally from Franco underscores the lasting impact of these allegations on Franco's career and his former professional partnerships.

Rogen elaborated on his stance, noting that the "nuance" of their personal relationship is too private to discuss in detail.

He maintained that his public position on the matter remains consistent with his actions, pointing out that he has not worked with Franco for years.

Rogen emphasized that nothing has changed since his last public comments on the subject, and he sees no benefit in delving deeper into the personal aspects of their separation.

The two actors shared a significant professional history, beginning with the television series "Freaks and Geeks" in 1999.

Their partnership continued through several successful comedy films in the 2000s and 2010s, including "Knocked Up," "Pineapple Express," "This Is the End," and "The Interview." Rogen was 16 and Franco 21 when they first worked together.

Franco's career trajectory shifted dramatically in 2018 after five women, including four of his acting students, accused him of sexually exploitative behavior.

A class-action lawsuit filed in 2019 by two of these women alleged that Franco engaged in "widespread inappropriate and sexually charged behavior." This lawsuit was settled in 2021 for $2.23 million.

This is not the first time Rogen has addressed the possibility of future collaborations with Franco.

In a 2021 interview with The Sunday Times, Rogen expressed regret for a 2018 comment suggesting he might work with Franco again, definitively stating at that time that he had not and did not plan to.

Franco, in a 2024 interview with Variety, acknowledged the end of their professional relationship, stating, "I haven't talked to Seth.

I love Seth, we had 20 great years together, but I guess it's over.

And not for lack of trying.

I've told him how much he's meant to me."
