Smashing Pumpkins and Chris Stapleton to Headline America's Block Party Benefit Concert
Smashing Pumpkins and Chris Stapleton are slated to headline America’s Block Party, a benefit concert scheduled for the Fourth of July at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
This event marks a significant celebration for the nation's 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, bringing together prominent musical acts for a cause.
Queen Latifah will host the event, which is organized by America250, a nonpartisan organization established by Congress’ United States Semiquincentennial Commission.
The organization is tasked with overseeing the country's quarter-millennium milestone.
Additional performers for the Los Angeles event are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Tickets for America's Block Party are priced at $17.76, a nod to the year of the Declaration of Independence.
Proceeds from ticket sales, after fees, will benefit Feeding America through America250’s new Giving 4th initiative.
This program encourages participants to contribute to charitable donations.
Tickets are set to go on sale on Tuesday, June 16, at 10 a.m.
PT.
In a gesture of appreciation, 5,000 tickets will be donated to first responders, veterans, and service members.
Beyond Los Angeles, America’s Block Party will extend its reach with other locations, including Summerfest in Milwaukee, the Fort Campbell Festival in Kentucky, and SC250 Charleston.
Events in Boston and Philadelphia are also anticipated to be announced soon, connecting a larger nationwide celebration.
Queen Latifah expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating, “Los Angeles knows how to put on a show, and hosting America’s Block Party at the LA Coliseum is going to be something special.
This is a chance to celebrate a once-in-a-generation milestone with great music, real energy, and a purpose that reaches far beyond the stadium.”
Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin also commented on the significance of the performance, noting, “Playing the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on July 4 for America’s 250th is a rare kind of moment.
We’ve always believed in the power of music to be a unifying principle.
It brings people together and allows them to express themselves in a forum that has a common destination — and it allows all of us the opportunity to participate in a celebration that has meaning, history, and impact.”
This announcement from America250 follows the cancellation of the separately organized Freedom 250 concert series.
That series, initially organized by a Trump appointee, reportedly fell apart after several billed artists, including Martina McBride and Bret Michaels, withdrew from the lineup, citing that they felt misled about the event's nonpartisan nature.
