Madonna Surprises Times Square with Grindr-Sponsored Pride Month Performance
Madonna surprised Times Square with an impromptu Pride Month performance on Thursday, June 4, in a collaboration with Grindr.
The pop-up concert transformed a large LED screen into a temporary venue called The Square, offering an unexpected experience for onlookers.
The event, sponsored by Grindr, saw the Queen of Pop perform a mix of new and classic tracks.
The setlist featured three songs from her anticipated upcoming album, *Confessions II*, and three from her 2005 album, *Confessions on a Dance Floor*.
Stuart Price, the producer behind *Confessions on a Dance Floor*, joined Madonna on turntables for the performance.
Madonna addressed the crowd, exclaiming, “All right New York City, are you ready for this?
C’mon, gays.
Happy Pride!” The 15-minute show included tracks like “I Feel So Free,” “Bring Your Love,” and “Love Sensation” from *Confessions II*, alongside fan favorites such as “Get Together,” “I Love New York,” and “Hung Up” from *Confessions on a Dance Floor*.
The venue, The Square, is designed to be a dynamic performance space that emerges from an LED screen in Times Square.
It aims to reimagine concerts as multimedia cultural experiences.
While other artists have used the space in limited capacities, Madonna was the first to utilize The Square at its full operational strength.
This development matters to the audience because it showcases an innovative approach to live performances, potentially setting a precedent for future events in iconic urban locations.
The collaboration between Madonna and Grindr began in late April with an exclusive picture disc of *Confessions II*.
It also includes a limited-edition merchandise capsule collection featuring lyrics and imagery from the album artwork.
Following her Times Square performance, Madonna is scheduled to appear at the Tribeca Festival on Friday, June 5.
She will screen a 10-minute visual project based on the first six tracks from *Confessions II*, followed by a conversation with Jimmy Fallon and the project's directors, David Toro and Solomon Chase (TORSO).
