Creator Nick Antosca has revealed that securing Juliette Lewis for the Apple TV+ series *Cape Fear* was a long-standing ambition.

Lewis, who earned critical acclaim for her role in Martin Scorsese's 1991 film adaptation of *Cape Fear*, recently made an appearance in the series' episode titled 'Phantom Sensations.' This casting decision holds particular significance given Lewis's history with the source material.

Antosca, who also worked with Lewis on his 2019 Hulu limited series *The Act*, expressed his desire to collaborate with her again.

He told Entertainment Weekly that he knew from the initial discussions about the rights for the *Cape Fear* series that he wanted Lewis involved.

"I always wanted Juliette to be in it," Antosca stated, adding that he greatly admired her performance in the 1991 *Cape Fear* movie, as well as other works like *Natural Born Killers*.

Lewis's appearance in 'Phantom Sensations' sees her character, mostly obscured by a hoodie and face mask, stalking the ex-convicted felon Max Cady, portrayed by Javier Bardem.

Her character breaks into Cady's home and leaves him a video message, which reportedly incites a violent reaction from him.

The Apple TV+ series *Cape Fear* stars Bardem as Max Cady, an ex-convict seeking revenge on District Attorney Tom (Patrick Wilson) and attorney Anna Bowden (Amy Adams), the couple responsible for his 17-year prison sentence.

The 1991 film, which saw Robert De Niro as Max Cady and Nick Nolte and Jessica Lange as Samuel and Leigh Bowden, earned Lewis Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations at the age of 18 for her portrayal of daughter Danielle.

Martin Scorsese, director of the 1991 film, serves as an executive producer on the new series alongside Steven Spielberg.

Scorsese's daughter, Francesca, also makes a cameo in the episode as an influencer discussing the case on social media.
