Vanilla Ice, also known as Robert Van Winkle, has publicly stated his bafflement regarding the negative reactions to his involvement in President Donald Trump’s upcoming “Great American State Fair” concert series.

The rapper shared his perspective on Fox News' “Saturday in America” with host Kayleigh McEnany, following reports of other artists withdrawing from the event.

Van Winkle conveyed his pride in participating in the concert series, which is set to celebrate the country's 250th anniversary.

He noted that while he and his family are honored by the opportunity, he doesn't comprehend why some artists are opting out.

“It’s crazy that all the attention is coming down on all this event and everything because I’m honored and just super proud,” Van Winkle remarked, adding, “My mom is proud and everybody I know is like, ‘This is awesome.’ And then there’s some people that are bailing out and all this stuff.”

He questioned the reasons behind the withdrawals, emphasizing the patriotic nature of celebrating the nation's 250th year.

Van Winkle specifically addressed the opposition linked to Trump's involvement, stating, “What’s wrong with being patriotic?

And they said, ‘Oh, because Trump’s putting it on.’” He then praised Trump's ability to host events, saying, “Man, I’ve been to a lot of them.

That guy knows how to throw a real party and they’re classy, they’re great, they’re fun and just over the top — and amazing.

So I’m like, ‘Even better.’ So I don’t get it.”

Last week, Van Winkle had also posted on social media, referring to Trump as “the Number One Attraction anywhere in the World” and “the Greatest President In History (The GOAT!).” This post was subsequently shared by the official White House account on X.

On Saturday, Van Winkle further suggested that those who oppose Trump and the concert series are “shaken up on their beliefs, politically,” and that entertainers should not be placed on a “pedestal” where their participation is automatically viewed as a political endorsement.

This development highlights the ongoing intersection of entertainment and political figures, often leading to public debate and scrutiny.
